Overview of the CWI 9-Year Certification Renewal Course
All of the Atlas courses are approved by the AWS to provide professional development hours for the Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) 9-year certification renewal. By providing 80 PDHs for the 9-year renewal, this CWI renewal course will take the place of the recertification exam. Upon completion of this course, you will be provided with the paperwork required by the AWS. Other Atlas online courses also provide AWS credit (see below). Because all of our courses are AWS accredited, our API courses could provide the required recertification professional development hours while helping you to prepare for a new (API) certification.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
A Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) needs to complete 80 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) of courses, seminars, or online courses to maintain their certification. These courses must meet the requirements of AWS Specification for the Certification of Welding Inspectors (AWS QC1:2016-AMD1) and cover subjects defined in the Education and Experience Requirements of AWS Specification for the Qualification of Welding Inspectors (AWS B5.1:2013-AMD1).

1. PDH Hours Study Course - 9-Year CWI Recertification and Renewal through AWS.
AWS requires all CWI's to re-certify at the nine year mark. Our 9-Year CWI Renewal Course covers what you need to know. It allows for a variety of study options. It also counts toward the PDH hrs. needed to meet the AWS requirements.
2. Visual Acuity Exam-Tested by your Optometrist.
You are required to have a Visual Acuity Exam to ensure you can conduct visual inspections correctly. Your local Optometrist can administer your exam and ensure you are able to meet this AWS requirement.
3. Submit a passport type photo to AWS.
AWS will need a passport type photo that you provide. This can be take at local pharmacies such as WalGreens, etc.
4. Fill out the Renewal Paperwork.
